Overview

This guide explains how to set up the Power BI integration to automatically pull data from Risk Cloud Table Reports using a pre-built template.

Step 1: The Power BI Template

To obtain the template file, PowerBI Template.pbit, please reach out to support@logicgate.com or your Customer Success Manager.

When you import the file, you will see a prompt screen like the screenshot below and you will need to enter the following information:

1. Your Risk Cloud environment URL
2. Your Access Key
3. The Table Report ID(s) you would like to extract data from

Step 2: Generate an Access Key

To find the Access Key within Risk Cloud, you can navigate to your User Profile via the user icon at the top-right corner of your screen. Then on the Access Key tab you will see the option to Generate an Access Key.

🔒 Important Notes:

• You must have the API Access module entitlement in a Role that is assigned to your user account in order to see the Access Key tab. If you do not see this option, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager.
• The Access Key expires after one year.
• You can set up a Fixed Schedule Job in Risk Cloud to send a reminder email to renew the Access Key before it expires.
• Store the Access Key securely. If a new one is generated, the old one becomes invalid.

Step 3: Find Table Report ID(s)

You can obtain your Table Report ID from the URL in your browser window after navigating to the required Table Report in Risk Cloud, as shown in the screenshot below.

Example: In the URL .../report/01Z7lWQ4, the ID is 01Z7lWQ4.

Note: The Table Report ID is the last eight characters of the URL, this will be different for each Table Report in your environment.

Step 4: Connect to Power BI

Now that you have the required information, you can then enter it into the Power BI template similar to the screenshot below. You can also enter up to 5 Table Report IDs at one time.

Keep these best practices in mind:

• ✅ Remember to save your Access Key securely in case you have to use it again.
• 🚫 Do not include a forward slash ( / ) at the end of the environment URL.

Once all of the information has been entered, click Load. Power BI will import your data into a table.

Step 5: Build and Customize Your Reports

Now that your data is loaded you can complete the following:

• Create visualizations and dashboards.
• Integrate with additional internal systems.
• Perform deeper analysis directly within Power BI.

To check and update your Permissions:

Click on "Transform data" and select "Data source settings".

Then for each Data Source setting select "Edit Permissions..." and ensure that each one is set to the "Anonymous" credential type and "Public" privacy level.

Data Type Errors

When connecting your Table Reports you may also get an error that you do not have any columns with the supported data types like the screenshot below.

If you receive this error:

• Check your Table Report for duplicate column names—rename them if needed.
• In Power BI, change the setting to never detect data types:
  • Go to Options > Global & Current File > select the option to “never detect data types”.
  • Then select “Clear Cache” and try again.

Known Limitations

❗Automatic Data Refreshes are not supported.
This is due to Power BI’s restrictions on dynamic data sources.
