This article is your central resource for Risk Cloud's navigation improvements. We'll keep it updated as new features roll out — bookmark it to stay in the loop.
Why We're Rethinking Navigation
Risk Cloud's flexibility is what makes it powerful — but we heard from many of you that navigating between applications, finding specific records, and understanding post-submission flows could be smoother. Whether you're a builder managing dozens of workflows or a program manager shepherding records across multiple GRC domains, the navigation should work with you, not against you.
We spoke with organizations across industries and sizes, and three themes kept coming up:
- "I just want to see my work." Users managing multiple GRC programs needed a faster way to switch between applications without losing context.
- "I can't find the record I'm looking for." Without global search, people relied on bookmarks, browser tabs, and custom table reports as workarounds.
- "What happens after I hit Submit?" The lack of clear navigation after submission left users uncertain about next steps.
This first wave of navigation improvements addresses all three. Here's what's new and how to use it.
App Sidebar
Release Timeline: Spring 2026
The application dropdown has been replaced with a persistent sidebar on the left side of every screen. Your GRC programs are now always one click away.
What You'll See
- Application tiles displayed alphabetically with each app's icon and abbreviated name
- A blue indicator bar on the currently selected application, so you always know where you are
- Up to 10 live applications in the sidebar. If you have more live apps or draft apps, just click on the "All Apps" icon at the bottom
- Tooltips on hover showing the full application name
How It Behaves
The sidebar updates your "current app" context whenever you click an app tile, open a Canvas, or navigate into a Step Builder. The Home button takes you to the homepage of whichever app is currently active.
For admins: The "All Apps" link opens your familiar Build > Applications page. End users see a streamlined directory showing only the live apps they have permission to access.
Good to know: Only live applications appear in the sidebar — no draft apps. If you navigate to an app outside your top 10, the sidebar won't highlight it, but everything else works normally.
Global Search
Released: Spring 2026
You can now search for records across all your applications from anywhere in Risk Cloud.
How to Use It
- Click the search bar in the top navigation
- Type a record name (e.g., "Annual SOX Review") or record ID (e.g., "Risk-42")
- Browse results showing key context: application, workflow, step, due date, assignee, and status
- Click a result to jump directly to that record
Search spans every application you have access to — no need to switch apps first.
Builder Tip: Make Search Work Better for Your Team
Global Search matches against the primary field of each workflow. If your workflows still use the default record name, consider setting a more descriptive primary field (risk title, vendor name, policy name, etc.) in the Step Builder. This small configuration change makes a significant difference in how quickly your end users can find what they need.
Current Scope
Global Search currently searches record primary fields and IDs. It does not yet search other field values, application names, report titles, or file contents. We're planning to expand search capabilities in future releases.
Submission Receipt & Streamlined Submit
Released: Sprint 2026
We've made two changes to improve the record submission experience.
Submission Receipt
After submitting a record, you now see a temporary, read-only copy of the completed record, and a confirmation banner with three clear options:
- Go to Next Step — If the user remains record owner on the next step, they can choose to move with record
- View Parent Record — Navigate to the parent record (useful when completing linked/child records)
- Go to Homepage — Return to the current application's landing page
- View My Tasks — Jump to your task list to see remaining work
This replaces the previous experience where users were returned to a home screen with no clear indication of what to do next.
Streamlined Submit
The "Are you sure you want to submit?" confirmation dialog has been removed. Clicking Submit now submits the record immediately. (The assignment modal — "Who should work on this next?" — still appears when applicable.)
This change was informed by user feedback that the extra confirmation step added friction without meaningful protection against errors.
Looking Ahead
These three features are the first wave of a broader investment in Risk Cloud's information architecture. We're working on improvements that will make it even easier to navigate within applications, see where records stand in a process, and manage your GRC programs from a single centralized view.
