How to modify the colors of your Visual Report in Risk Cloud
Special Colors for Visual Reports
By default, the Risk Cloud will color Visual Reports by an accessible color palette with 114 different default hues. Visual Reports offer further color customization to help you more easily see and understand your data.
Set Custom Colors on Visual Reports
Color customization is available on all report types for both custom and system fields. The color configuration options differ per chart type. In the builder modal of a Visual Report, navigate to the Colors tab. The number of color selections depends on the given chart. You may select any of the provided colors or select your own custom color using its hex code.
Any Visual Report using a Calculation Field with label range colors will use the calculation label range colors and you will not be able to select any custom colors on top of those. To change the colors of the Visual Report, you would need to change the label range colors on the Calculation Field itself.
Line, Area and Bar Charts
You can change the color of the plotted points or bars in Line, Area and Bar charts. Each point or bar will be the same color unless you add an X-axis dimension to your Visual Report.
When you add an X-axis dimension to your Line, Area, or Bar chart, you may change the color of each value slice of the X-axis dimension field.
Scatter Charts
You can change the color of the plotted points in Scatter Visual Reports. Each point will be the same color selected.
Donut Charts
In a Donut Visual Report, you may change the color of each value slice. Only non-null values shown in the donut chart will be available to select custom colors for.
Gauge Charts
You may select the color of the gauge chart for any gauge chart reporting on any field.
Metric Charts
You may select the color of the text in a Metric Visual Report for any field. You cannot set a custom color reporting on Record Count at this time.
Color by Calculation Label
If you create a Visual Report based on a Calculation Field that has labels with configured colors, the Visual Report can use those label colors. This helps maintain consistency across the application and helps your users quickly see the colors you configured for the Calculation Field.
How to color Heatmaps by Calculation to create Risk Maps
Visualize and communicate where your risks lie against your risk matrix with Heatmaps. You can identify and quantify your risks using calculations to color Heatmap Visual Reports.
You can configure a heat map to color by calculation by selecting the "Colors" tab on the Visual Report edit modal for Heat Maps:
Once on the colors tab, you can choose to color by calculation and enter the fields you set as the X and Y axes. Make sure to use an expression with %x and %y instead of %f like in other areas in the platform. You can also choose whether to use the default color scheme (green -> red) or a custom color scheme using the color palette:
