As users work in Risk Cloud, they will often need to reference information from related records. The Record Preview Panel allows you to quickly view record details without navigating away from your current page, helping you maintain context while accessing the information you need.
What is the Record Preview Panel?
The Record Preview Panel provides a quick view of record information without requiring you to navigate to the full record page. This feature helps you:
- Maintain your place in the platform while checking related records
- Better understand relationships between records
- Access information needed to complete your current task
Note: The Record Preview Panel is a view-only feature. To edit records, add comments, view the outline, or perform other actions, you'll need to open the full record.
Accessing the Record Preview Panel
You can access the Record Preview Panel in two primary locations:
From a Record Page
If a record has a Linked Workflow section or a Relationship Report, the user can display the preview panel by clicking on a linked or related record:
Note: The Record Preview Panel is only available on steps where The Reimagined Record Experience is activated.
From a Table Report
When viewing any table report, you can preview records before navigating to them:
- Locate the record you want to preview in the table
- Click the preview icon in the row of the record you wish to preview
- The Record Preview Panel will appear on the right side of the screen
Assigning in the Record Panel
As of August 2025, users have the ability to checkout/reassign the record via the side panel! This feature behaves the same as the checkout/reassign behavior on a regular record page.
Limitations
The Record Preview Panel is designed for viewing information only. The following actions are not available in the preview mode:
- Editing record fields
- Viewing the record outline
- Viewing or adding comments
- Viewing record history
If you need to perform any of these actions, click the "Open Record" button to navigate to the full record view.
Additional Notes
- The Record Preview Panel displays records using the Reimagined Record Experience, even if destination record is still on a legacy step. This may result in the record appearing differently in the preview panel compared to the full screen record.
- If you click on a record name in a table report instead of the preview icon, you will navigate directly to the full record rather than opening the preview panel
- You can click the
icon on the preview panel header to open the record in a new tab.
If you would like expanded functionality in the Record Preview Panel, please submit a feature request through the appropriate channels.
